The three ski schools offer instruction in the usual range of skiing and boarding pursuits, but you can also learn ‘telemark’ and ‘cross country’. Paragliding is very popular with four companies offering lessons or tandem flights. For something different there is a ride in a hot air balloon or a trip in a helicopter. In the town there is an excellent sport centre offering gym and fitness, an indoor ice rink (there is also an open one by the tourist office) and a climbing wall. You can take a tour of a cheese factory and a slate quarry, get a sleigh ride, drive a snowmobile or go diving under the ice in the lake.
